Brahma Kumari’s Raj Yoga Centre Kohima organized a programme on life enrichment for young and senior citizens with the theme “live your life and forget your age” at Kohima DC conference hall on Monday.
Speaking to the participants in the programme, Dr. Mahesh N Hemadri, MBBS (geriatrician) GV Mody Rural Health Care Centre and Shivamani Geriatric Home Branch of Global Hospital and Research Centre, Mt Abu, Rajasthan said every care must be taken to safe guard the interest and rights of the elders. He urged the gathering to learn the culture and traditions from the senior citizens and utilize elders wisdom and experience for betterment and solve the crisis by spending time with them.
Dr. Hemadri said mental health was necessary by empowering through meditations to make stress free, addiction free and live a productive life for the family and society. He also said to be spiritually healthy one needed to practice healthier meditations. Dr. Hemadri highlighted about the conflict between traditional cultural values and popular culture, generation gap negative effects, the need of bridging generation gap, importance of strengthening family relations and others.
He said smart senior citizens in the country would result into smart nation. He also stressed the need of having sound and healthy mind and physical body by keeping good relationship with family members, eating healthy, healthy life style, exercise, regular healthy check up and others.
Dr. Bharshetty, master in physiotherapy former district scout commissioner Bidra Karnataka demonstrated some exercises during programme along with the participants.
