Liju Federation Wozhuro Block, under Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), held its 1st Annual General Meeting at the Likya Colony Hall in Wokha on Wednesday, on the theme “Together We Rise Higher” with District Sericulture Officer, Wokha Yingsungbeni Ngullie, as the special guest.
Special guest Yingsungbeni Ngullie emphasized on the importance of SHGs, explaining that the term “Self-Help Group” itself means individuals helping themselves. She stressed that the government alone cannot support all citizens, making SHGs crucial for guiding the unemployed and housewives. Ngully highlighted the role of SHGs in bringing developments within the themselves and across the state.
Ngully also commended the hard work and determination required to form and sustain an SHG. Ngullie urged all members to work together to fully utilize available resources and to focus on traditional attires as part of their development activities.
BPM BMMU Wozhuro Lumbeni Yanthan, provided an overview of NSRLM activities in the area. She reported that the block currently has 88 Self-Help Groups (SHGs), including seven for the elderly and one for people with disabilities (PWDs). She also noted the presence of Village Level Organisation offices in 11 villages, all under the Liju Federation. Additionally, Yanthan highlighted the external support provided through credit linkage assistance from the Cooperative Bank, which aids in the sustainability of the SHGs.
The Best VLO award was presented to Mangasa VLO (Pongidong). Metapvüi SHG (Phiro Village) received the Best SHG award. Orenchumi Tungu (Likya VLO, Phiro) was awarded as the Best VF cum MBK, and Lydia Tsanglao (Renchum VLO, Sankiton) was given the Best CSP.
The program was chaired by Lochumbeni Tsanglao, with an invocation by Libenthung Khuvung. The welcome song was performed by the EC members of the Liju Federation. Lorenty Z Ezung delivered the financial report, and Mangasa from the Village Level Organisation (VLO) of Pongidong Village performed another song. Zuthunglo Ovung shared a success story, while Samuel Kithan and representatives from Moneywise CFL Wokha gave short speeches. Erenbeni Khuvung extended the vote of thanks, and Alanbeni Humtsoe concluded the event with a benediction.
