After torrential rain and gusty wind from the impact of cyclonic storm Remal on May 24 destroyed houses and properties, Lima Onen Chang, MLA from Noksen constituency, visited the disaster-hit Noksen Town, Noksen Village and Litem Village in Tuensang district.
According to a DIPR report, the MLA sought early intervention from the state government. Chang also assured his assistance to the affected people in their distress and assured that all possible help would be provided to the affected.
To take stock of the situation, Chang also convened a meeting on Saturday at the office of Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO, Civil) Noksen, Tuensang, wherein he underscored the need for faster relief to the affected people. He asked the officials of the subdivision to seek all possible assistance from Tuensang district administration, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)/Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) to meet the dire needs of the situation.
During the meeting, SDO (C) Noksen, Saratho Katiry, informed that a total of 65 houses were fully damaged, 41 partially damaged, and “uncountable” pig stays, granaries and huts were destroyed.
Katiry informed that institutions like the Primary Health Centre (PHC) building, Anganwadi Centre, St Thomas Parish, NAP station buildings and Government Primary School (GPS) Litem were damaged by the cyclone. Further, he thanked the MLA for his intervention for immediate relief to the affected people through DDMA.
