Nagaland’s professional mixed martial artist Limasunep Imchen, representing The Combat Academy Nagaland and Warriors Cove MMA, delivered a commanding performance at the recently concluded Aturto Mixed Martial Arts event in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
Imchen, one of the contenders in the prestigious 8-man Flyweight Grand Prix Tournament, faced local favourite Nisham Waii in the quarterfinal bout. Showcasing superior skill and composure, he secured a first-round Technical Knockout victory, ensuring his place in the semi-finals.
The Grand Prix has drawn athletes from across India including Mizoram, Meghalaya, Mumbai, Assam, Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh—competing for the inaugural Aturto Flyweight Championship Belt and a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs.
With this victory, Imchen now advances to the semi-finals, where he is set to face Lia Nun from Mizoram. The semi-final stage of the tournament is scheduled to take place later this year in August.
Aturto, based in Arunachal Pradesh, has rapidly emerged as one of India’s leading mixed martial arts organizations and is currently regarded as the most prominent MMA promotion in the Northeast region. Its growing reputation has provided a platform for fighters like Imchen to showcase their talent on a national stage.
