DIMAPUR, JUL 18 (NPN): The Lions & Leo Club of Dimapur held its installation ceremony of the new Board of Directors (2026–27) at the club premises on Saturday, reaffirming its commitment to service, leadership and fellowship.
The installation was officiated by Past District Governor (PDG) Lion Balram Singh Rathor, who urged members to serve society with enthusiasm and clarity of purpose. Addressing the gathering, Rathor said service should become a way of life, adding that while people may not possess everything they desire, God provides opportunities to do good, which must be appreciated. He lauded Lions Club Dimapur for its steady growth and dedication to humanitarian service, noting that genuine service begins with the right mindset and willingness to contribute positively to society.
The newly installed office bearers for the 2026–27 session are Basu Damani as president, Selendra Kr Ajmera as secretary and Saurav Jain as treasurer. In his presidential address, Damani reaffirmed the club’s motto “We Serve,” highlighting its sustained service for over 50 years across social, cultural, educational and healthcare sectors. He expressed gratitude to dignitaries, representatives of sister clubs, community leaders and guests for their support.
Damani noted that the club has contributed extensively to society, including assistance during natural calamities, support to underprivileged families and students, and healthcare initiatives such as “Mission Sight for All”, which benefitted thousands of patients. He said the programme, currently on hold, would soon be revived in consultation with the government.
Outlining priorities, Damani said the club aims to strengthen infrastructure to facilitate multipurpose events at affordable rates, continue free healthcare and vaccination services, and explore establishing a blood bank in collaboration with the State Health Department. He also acknowledged Lion Anil Tongya for his voluntary contribution to the health sector.
Recalling the club’s role during the Covid 19 pandemic, Damani said Lions Club Dimapur had carried out one of the highest vaccination drives despite being a non governmental organisation. He expressed gratitude for the encouragement received and appealed for continued cooperation in future endeavours.
The outgoing board for 2025–26 comprised Lion Sanjay Jaiswal as president, Lion Sumit Jain as secretary and Lion Selendra Kr Ajmera as treasurer. The new office bearers of the Leo Club Dimapur for 2026–27 were also installed, with Happy Jain as president, Sakshi Jain as secretary and Rashika Jain as treasurer. The programme also featured an award ceremony under the theme “Continuing the journey of service, leadership and fellowship.”
