Literary and cultural contest mark 39th VKRSU conference

VK Range Students’ Union (VKRSU) XXXIXth general conference got underway here in VK Town in Zunheboto district Friday with Inavi Chishi, DPO, Akuluto, as the chief guest who also inaugurated and declared the meet open at VK Town, Zunheboto.
Declaring the general conference open, Chishi exhorted the student delegates on the theme “A meticulous foresee” and also on ‘Target, aims and vision.’
He emphasized that not only academic excellence, degrees, master degrees or higher studies makes one a successful politician, officer, businessman or various other ventures but one needs dedication, fear of the Lord and discipline in order to be a good citizens of the society.
“Students’ should not involve in politics during the high schools, pre-university, university or other academic courses since it hampers studies and performances,” cautioned Inavi who also recommended that after the completion of studies/courses one must strive to pursue their own interests and objectives diligently.
On the poor development of the area, Inavi stated that the “lack of civic sense” and “ignorance of one’s own rights and duties” hampers the development and other developmental activities in the region.
He concluded by briefly highlighting the present Naga political crisis and power struggle and urged the students to monitor and be wise in choosing one’s own leaders/MLAs.
Earlier in the ‘introductory session’ on January 8 evening, advocate K Savi, NVCO president and convenor ACAUT Nagaland (Legal Cell), graced the evening as the speaker.
He stressed on “Rights and duties,” “Human rights,”  and contemporary Naga society which is rooted in corruption and several other related issues confronting the general Naga public.
He also lamented on the Naga political ‘state of affairs and crisis’ both over ground and underground which according to him is ‘very unfortunate and disappointing.’
While highlighting on the evils and corruption level in the present Naga society, Savi said that the state government (policy makers/ top officials) are the 8th faction including other NPG factions tormenting the public economy directly or indirectly. Also as the president NVCO and ACAUT executive, Savi vehemently condemned the “December 12 Truck torching incident” along the Aghunato-Zunheboto highway and termed it as a very senseless, stupid and foolish act and demanded those culprits should be booked and punished as per the existing laws.
All together 10 units under the VKRSU namely Izheto SU, Sastami SU, Ajiqa SU, VK Town SU, Lita Old SU and Lita New SU, Phishu SU, Maromi SU and VKRSU-Zunheboto unit are actively participating and competing in the 4-daylong event (January 8-11).
The highlights and competition includes men’s and women’s volleyball, badminton singles men’s and women’s; couple show both traditional and fashion; Sumi war/ warriors cry display; traditional fire making; top-spinning; high jump; spear kicking; debates and other literary items”.
The programme would culminate on January 11 after a grand closing ceremony and prize distribution.
