
A one-day seminar on recent farming practices in poultry and piggery was conducted at Chuchuyimlang village under the theme “One world one health’’ on October 19.
A press release from convenor of the seminar on livestock farming, Bendang Jamir stated that the first resource person, Dr. Sentitula, divisional forest officer, Peren discussed in detail, scientific poultry farming and how poultry farming could achieve economic independence and sustainable development for farmers who farm in rural areas.
The second resource person, Dr. Imtiwati, assistant professor of Livestock Production Management, College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Peren, discussed recent farming practices in regard to rearing of pigs by farmers.
He emphasised on how Chuchuyimlang village could be the hub of commercially exporting pork throughout Nagaland state taking advantage of its strategic and natural topographic location in the state.
Earlier, in the program invocation was offered by Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church pastor, T. Lima, and a welcome address was delivered by convenor Bendangonen Jamir, who emphasised on sustainable development of livestock as being the backbone for rural economy.
He also highlighted the need to adopt scientific management practices by livestock farmers to achieve the full potential of their endeavour and to increase their output and income in a sustainable way.
