‘Livestock infertility-cum-health camp’ at Jalukieram

College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU (I), Jalukie conducted a free “Livestock Infertility cum Health Camp” at Council Hall, Jalukieram village on August 17. The programme was conducted by expert faculties and students under the team leadership of Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics and supervision of Dr. I. Shakuntala, the Dean of the Veterinary College, Jalukie.


At the event, a technical session was also held under the programme, where various topics related to Livestock infertility and diseases were delivered by the resource persons followed by a farmer-scientist interaction. Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, Assistant Professor cum coordinator of the programme delivered on “Infertility of farm livestock and its management”, while “common reproductive issues of pet animals and its management” and “Poultry diseases and their management” were delivered by Dr. N. Bhumapati Devi, Assistant Professor and Dr. Neithono Kuotsu, Assistant Professor, respectively.


Free animal health check-up and treatment were also carried out during the programme. Earlier, chairman of the village, welcomed all the experts from the college and farmers to the animal health camp. He appreciated the College of Veterinary Sciences and A.H, Jalukie for organizing an important programme in their village.


The programme was chaired by professor Dr. A. Palanisammi, Professor. A total of 44 participants (32 farmers and 12 officials) attended the programme. Reproductive health check up of animals, surgical operation, wound dressing and deworming were performed during the camp. Vitamins, mineral mixtures, anthelmentics, antibiotics and other veterinary medicines were distributed to the needy farmers covering a total of 278 livestock.
