Livingstone Foundation Int’l College inaugurated

 COLLEGES DOING BETTER BECAUSE OF CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT: DHE DIRECTOR

Department of higher education, director, Dr. Apeni Lotha inaugurated the Livingstone Foundation International College here, on Tuesday. The college was dedicated by Thahekhu village Baptist Church Pastor Mughabeto K Jimo.
Speaking at the inaugural programme as special guest, Dr. Apeni said that till last academic session, the state had 65 secular colleges, out of which 15 colleges comprised of government colleges and 50 private colleges, however, from this academic session, the state would have 67 colleges. 
Congratulating the authority and the faculty, she said that upgrading a college was not an easy task as it included a lot of struggle.
Dr. Apeni hoped that the college would live up to the objective of sound education, dreams and motto.  
While talking about the importance of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) assessment mandated by University Grants Commission (UGC), she stated that NAAC assessment was required for institutions all over the country to improve the quality of education.
She informed that at present, the department had two levels of assessment – in the department level, a mechanism to evaluate and assess the institution colleges as triple “A” (Academic, Administrative Audit) where she said, many colleges had received good grade.
Meanwhile, at national level, there was a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for colleges, out of the 15 government colleges in the state 11 colleges have been assessed by NAAC and of 50 private colleges 19 colleges have been assessed, she informed.
In this regard, Dr. Apeni asserted that colleges were doing better because of continuous assessment, since the quality of education is enhanced. Lotha also appealed teachers to emphasise all round development, to be motivators and role mentors to students. 
Also speaking at the programme, LFI chairman Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema briefed on the inception of the college. He also talked about the importance of education and stressed on how “education is the backbone of everybody”.
Though people referred to tourism, he reiterated that tourism may come in go but the perennial follow up and consistency of student coming from outside Nagaland and within the state would be immense.
In this regard, Dr. Andrew said that Nagaland should be the hub of education and the epicenter of education. 
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by LFIC principal Dr. RK Behera, speeches were also delivered by All Nagaland College Student Union president Vimeyiekho Vitso and chairman & GB Kevijau colony. The programme was chaired by Sashirenla Mollier, bible reading by Dr. Tainla Mar, special prayer by Thahekhu Village Baptist Church pastor Mughabeto K. Jimo and vote of thanks by Ani Yepthomi.
