DIMAPUR: National secretary of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), S. Richard Humtsoe has urged all stakeholders to give serious and sincere attention to the concerns raised by the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) regarding the implementation of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA).
Humtsoe noted that the signing of the MoA on February 5, 2026, marked a significant milestone in addressing the long standing aspirations of the people of Eastern Nagaland through democratic and constitutional means. He stressed that agreements reached after years of negotiation carry both moral and political responsibility to uphold their spirit and letter.
He called upon the Government of Nagaland, Government of India and ENPO to immediately engage in a high level consultative process to resolve outstanding concerns, particularly regarding legislative, executive and financial autonomy under the FNTA framework. He emphasized that differences should be addressed through dialogue and institutional consultation rather than public confrontation.
Humtsoe underlined that the aspirations of Eastern Nagaland reflect decades of developmental concerns, governance challenges and the desire for greater participation in decision making. He said every effort must be made to ensure the implementation process remains faithful to the objectives for which the agreement was conceived.
Reiterating that trust among all parties is essential, he urged the Government of Nagaland to reassure the people of Eastern Nagaland of its commitment to the agreement, while ENPO and stakeholders should continue to pursue their objectives through peaceful and democratic engagement.
He cautioned that the FNTA issue should not become a source of division but rather an opportunity to strengthen inclusive governance, balanced regional development and lasting peace.
