LJP (RV) Nagaland refutes allegations by NTPRADAO

DIMAPUR, SEP 9 (NPN)

The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Nagaland unit has strongly condemned what it termed as “irresponsible and baseless allegations” made by the so-called Nagaland Transparency Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organisation (NTPRADAO).
In a press release, LJP (RV) unit said the repeated demands for the resignation of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) nominated councillor and NDPP youth leader, Enoch S. Wotsa, and attempts to drag the name of LJP (RV) legislator Dr. Sukhato A. Sema, were nothing but “deliberate defamation, politically motivated propaganda and blackmail tactics for vested interests.”
The state unit clarified that the continuance or removal of Enoch, who was nominated to the DMC by the government, was solely the prerogative of the government and competent municipal authority. While acknowledging that Enoch belonged to another political party, NDPP, the party said it strongly opposed “any unlawful and mob-driven demand” for his resignation.
LJP (RV) said its defence of Enoch was not about party politics, but about upholding the rule of law and democratic values, and ensuring that no individual is compelled to resign on the basis of baseless or vindictive attacks. It asserted that the rule of law must prevail over the diktats of self-styled organisations.
Further, LJP (RV) said that allegations were not proof and that law must take its own course, adding that nobody could be punished or forced to resign simply because of accusations.
LJP (RV) said that if there was any case, it will be duly investigated by the police and decided in a court of law, not through press statements or mob shouting. “What this organisation is attempting amounts to mob justice, which is dangerous for democracy,” LJP (RV) said, adding that if such demands were entertained, then no public servant or leader in Nagaland– or anywhere in India– will ever be safe.
On dragging the MLA’s name, the party said Dr. Sukhato A. Sema had absolutely no connection to the personal actions of his adult son and described such attempts as a cowardly and deliberate insult to his dignity, damage his reputation and weaken his political standing.
It said no law in India holds a father responsible for the independent actions of his adult son, a fact this organisation was well aware of. By making such reckless accusations, LJP (RV) said they have crossed all limits of decency and political morality. The party termed it as deliberate defamation driven by jealousy and vested interests, warning that it will not be forgiven or tolerated any further. It further cautioned that if Dr. Sukhato’s name is dragged again in this baseless manner, LJP (RV) will immediately initiate strict legal proceedings against those responsible.
Rejecting calls to submit a report against its senior leader, the state unit asserted it stood “firmly and unshakably” behind Dr. Sukhato.
LJP (RV) said that if any report is sent to the central leadership, it will not be against Dr. Sukhato but rather a detailed account exposing the organisation’s malicious propaganda, falsehoods, and blackmail tactics. The party said its central leadership will be apprised of how this group is misusing the language of public rights to pursue selfish and political agendas. It further warned that any attempt to force such demands upon the party will be treated as a direct attack on the integrity and independence of LJP (RV) Nagaland, to which the party will respond with utmost seriousness.
Maintaining that repeated attacks exposed the organisation’s “ulterior motives,” LJP (RV) said it would not bow down to blackmail, character assassination or street politics. It warned that any further defamatory attacks against Dr. Sukhato or Enoch Wotsa would be met with the strongest legal and political measures.
It said that those indulging in such reckless campaigns must be prepared to face the full consequences of their actions.
The party further stated that while it may differ with NDPP on political ideology, it would never support injustice against any individual, irrespective of party affiliation. It called upon the people of Nagaland to reject malicious propaganda and stand united against blackmail and character assassination disguised as activism.
