Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) celebrated its foundation day on June 21 at Chuchuyimlang Town Baptist Church Jubilee Memorial Hall under the theme “Clean Election”.
In a press release LKM informed that the event was graced by Dr. Yashizungla Yaden, PGT at MGHSS, as special guest, who highlighted the importance of using technology and artificial intelligence wisely.
She stressed the need for vocational skills in education and called for government support in this area.
Pastor Temjen Longkumer, in his theme address, said clean elections reflected God’s will and urged voters to uphold honesty and integrity.
He called on village councils and student bodies to reject vote-selling and promote ethical voting practices.
He cited Lok Sabha MP Supongmeren as an example of integrity.
LKM president, Imlinok, in his welcome speech, recalled the organisation’s pioneers—late L.L. Yaden, late Obangtemjen, late Imsongto and late L. Pangersowa Jamir—and their efforts to uplift Langpangkong students.
He also shared the success of the “Clean Election” campaign launched in 2017 and encouraged community-based decisions guided by values.
AKM general secretary, Satemmongba, appreciated LKM’s contribution in addressing various student and public issues including school visits, road inspections, and illegal taxation.
The late L. Pangersowa Jamir Trust Award for Academic Excellence was presented to HSLC achievers—Akummeren Longkumer (Wameken) and Mereninla Pongen (Mongsenyimti)—with cash awards and certificates.
The foundation day celebration was held in two sessions. The first session, led by cultural secretary Imonungla, included LKM flag hoisting, anthem, invocation by Imrong Pongen Chakpa, and a song by Imsunaro of Anaki Yimsen Students’ Union.
The second session, hosted by Tianenla Lemtur, featured a speech competition on “Clean Election.” Judges included CBA Associate Pastor Luen, RC Chiden GHS teacher Lanumenla, and NIELIT senior faculty Imlirenla. Temjenzulu (Akhoya) won first prize and Sangtoba (Merangkong) came second.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by LKM vice president, Ardangsen, followed by a closing prayer.
