DIMAPUR, SEP 14 (NPN): The Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM), Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang (LTM) and their respective Road Coordination Committees (RCCs), along with officials of the district administration, NPWD Mokokchung and representatives of Avantika, KKB Rulho and Nitin Sai Construction Company, conducted a joint inspection of the NH-02 stretch from Mongsenyimti to Tzusangra Bridge on Monday.
The inspection covered approximately 75 km and focused on concerns over the quality of workmanship in several stretches of the ongoing highway works and recurring landslide-prone areas disrupting connectivity in the Langpangkong range.
The inspection team visited locations where concerns had been raised over construction standards and durability of completed works, stressing adherence to engineering specifications and quality-control measures. Particular attention was given to vulnerable stretches affected by landslides and soil erosion, especially during the monsoon. The team assessed the damage and discussed possible long-term measures, including alternative alignments, strengthening protective structures, improved drainage and other engineering interventions.
Representatives of the executing agencies briefed the delegation on construction-related challenges and remedial measures being undertaken.
District administration and NPWD Mokokchung officials assured that the concerns would be examined and necessary corrective measures taken in coordination with the agencies concerned.
The LKM and LTM, along with their RCCs, stressed that NH-02 was a crucial lifeline for the region and called for quality workmanship, accountability and timely intervention to address persistent landslide issues.
All stakeholders agreed to continue monitoring the works and collaborate towards improving the condition and resilience of the NH-02 corridor.
