Langpangkong Kaketshir Mongdang Clean Election Campaign Committee (LKMCECC) undertook a weeklong tour programme on clean election from July 18 to 21. The tour aimed to reach out to grass roots people and educate them about their electoral rights and benefit of securing fair and free election.
LKMCECC during its first phase of grass roots tour programme visited Tzüdikong, Kangtsüng, Kangtsüngyimsen, Anaki, Anaki ‘C’, Wameken, Asangma, Kelingmen, Merangkong and Nukshiyim villages. Local action committee in each and every village and town was formed for implementation of clean election principles.
LKMCECC in a press statement stated that during the interaction with the people in respective villages, they have expressed their deep anguish against the present state of affair– pathetic conditions of roads, poor health care services, education, power and unemployment problem amongst the youth.
“I am now 46 years old and I was never allowed to cast my vote. I’ve not seen ballot paper and Electronic Voting machine in my life. I don’t have experience of voting in my life due to violence and corrupt practices during past elections,” one church leader said during discussion hour on clean election, informed LKMCECC.
In the tour, LKMCECC members asked people as to whether it was dignified to walk on muddy, dusty road, defaulting to pay their children’s tuition fees in private schools and being compelled to go outside the state for medical care.
It also questioned whether it was right on the part of the government to let the youths suffer at the hands of employers in cities of India as whether it was morally right on the part of the government as well as parents to let the youth suffer and humiliate at the hands of their employers in different cities of India as employment opportunities are lacking for them in the state.
LKMCECC also reminded people that as the government elected by people was the government deserved, instead of keeping on playing blame games, people in general must also take its own share of blame in matters ruining the future of the young generation. LKMCECC also appealed the people to pray for God fearing, morally strong, cultured, patriotic man of understanding to be their candidate to restore and secure the future.
The second phase of LKMCECC clean election tour to remaining villages has been scheduled for last part of August 2017.
