DIMAPUR: The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection (LM&CP), Dimapur, conducted an awareness programme at St. Xavier College, Jalukie, on May 6 under the theme “Accurate Measurement, Safe Products – Confident Consumers.”
According to a press release issued by Assistant Controller Er. Ngangshimakok, the programme underscored the guiding principles of consumer protection, emphasizing that accurate weights and measures along with adherence to product safety standards are essential for building trust in the marketplace.
It was highlighted that precision in measurement promotes fair trade practices, minimizes fraudulent activities, and safeguards consumer interests. Reliable standards and quality assurance mechanisms were noted as vital in ensuring that consumers receive safe and high-quality products.
The awareness programme also aimed to educate students and participants on their rights as consumers while sensitizing them to the importance of vigilance and informed decision-making in everyday transactions.
