LMFN holds AGM; resolves to organise Youth Conclave

DIMAPUR: The Linguistic Minority Forum Nagaland (LMFN) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 7 at Hotel Europa Inn, Dimapur, deliberating on issues concerning the welfare, rights and development of linguistic minority and non Naga communities in the state.
A major highlight was the adoption of a resolution to organise the 2nd Annual Youth Conclave cum Cultural Fest 2026 in July at Town Hall, Dimapur, aimed at promoting cultural understanding, social harmony and constructive dialogue. The House also resolved to constitute an organising committee, establish a Youth Wing, and form a five member Advisory Core Committee of intellectuals and educationists to provide strategic guidance.
Further, an LMFN District Branch Committee will be set up in Kohima to enhance outreach, while a delegation team will engage with civil society organisations and stakeholders to foster cordial relations between Naga and non Naga communities.
Addressing the gathering, LMFN chairman Bishnu Bhattacharjee highlighted the contributions of linguistic minority communities to the development of Dimapur, Kohima and other parts of Nagaland, reiterating the Forum’s commitment to empowerment and welfare. The Annual Secretary’s Report (2025–26) was presented by Kabir Ahmed Choudhury, outlining activities and achievements. Senior community leaders also shared insights on challenges and prospects, while members reaffirmed confidence in the Forum’s leadership and pledged collective efforts to safeguard the rights of minority citizens, particularly long settled families and younger generations.
The House further resolved to work unitedly for the future of children of linguistic minority communities, promoting their rights, education, security and well being, while fostering peace, harmony and mutual respect among all sections of society in Nagaland.
