DIMAPUR, NOV 6 (NPN): Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) has announced its decision to resume agitation over the shortage of teachers at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sungro from November 9, 2026, after its 48-hour deadline to the school education department expired without a positive response.
In a letter to the principal director school education, LMRSU president Rhonbemo Murry and education and statistical secretary Lijanbeni M Ngullie said the union had received no concrete assurance from the authorities.
The union stated that GHSS Sungro had the second-highest enrolment in Wokha district after GHSS Wokha, with 153 students. It said the acute shortage of teachers was affecting students’ academic progress and future.
The union said it had been left with no option but to resume its democratic agitation. However, in view of the Tokhu Emong festival on November 7, the agitation would remain suspended until November 9.
The union said the agitation would resume at Sanis. LMRSU announced that all government institutions under the Lotha Middle Range would remain closed during the agitation. It also stated that the SDEO Office, Sanis, would be locked on Monday.
The union appealed to the principal director to intervene and fulfil its demands before the agitation resumes. It said timely intervention was necessary to prevent further disruption of the academic environment.
