Nagaland Livestock Development Board (NLDB) under the department of Vety. & AH 3rd fully automatic liquid nitrogen plant of 8-10 LPH capacity was installed and inaugurated by commissioner & secretary & chairman NLDB, M.K. Mero, Wednesday.
In his inaugural speech Mero expressed concern on the wide gap between the demand and supply of milk in the state.
He appreciated the NLDB for the successful installation of 3 Liquid Nitrogen Plants which were all functional and producing sufficient Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) for the state, this being the main requirement for all Artificial Insemination Activities.
Mero also called upon the department to create awareness to the farmers on the importance of improving the production of animals through FST by using superior germplasm which was now available.
Project director, Dr. K. Gwirie in his keynote address said two plants under National Project on Cattle and Buffalo Breeding (NPCBB) have been installed at Lerie, Kohima and the third plant at Wokha. With this the state of Nagaland can now meet the demand of LN2 for the state not only for AI activity but also for research and hospitals, he added.
