Load shedding to be eased in Dimapur

In a relief to the citizens of Dimapur, the Power department has informed that the 10 MVA transformer was successfully installed at Nagarjan power house and would ease the load shedding schedule in Dimapur, to a limited extent.
Informing of this in a press note, Executive Engineer (electrical transmission division), Er. Wabangmeren Jamir said with this addition, the total capacity of the power station was increased to 30 MVA, which was still only 50% of the required 60 MVA.
Jamir also said that while earnest efforts are underway to add to the current capacity, it would still fall short of the 60 MVA that was available prior to the two 20 MVA transformers having to be put out of service recently.
He also said that the department anticipated the capacity addition to be completed before Christmas and should normalize power supply through the colder months. Jamir also expressed appreciation for the restraint and co-operation of the consumers and added “request is again made to bear with the inconvenience during this unfortunate turn of events and also utilize electric power judiciously.”
