The Jalukie Valley Fishery Co-operative Society Ltd, promoted by the Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Peren, formally launched its Local Fresh Fish Sale initiative at the Jalukie Daily Market on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day.
According to a DIPR report, the inaugural programme was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jalukie, Albert Ezung, who emphasized the vital role of cooperative societies in promoting sustainable aquaculture and improving the socio-economic conditions of fish farmers. He encouraged the community to adopt responsible fishing practices and highlighted the benefits of collective organization in addressing challenges related to resource access, marketing, and financial support.
ADC Ezung also noted that cooperative societies can facilitate better farming techniques and long-term sustainability in fishery management. Earlier, District Fishery Officer C. Dory Yanthan outlined the objectives of the Jalukie Valley Fishery Co-operative Society and announced that fresh local fish will be available in the market twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The programme began with an invocation prayer by Rev. Kuzierang, seeking blessings for the success of the initiative.
