Lok Sabha 2024: Information, guidelines & training

With the announcement of the election to the lone Lok Sabha seat on April 19 by Election Commissions of India (ECI), Nagaland has started preparing for the election by conducting meetings and training polling personnel.


The Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and District Election Officers (DEOs), Additional Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Assistant Election Officers (AEOs) have also issued notices and advisories for the smooth and peaceful conduct of elections.


During the training for polling personnel, master trainers sensitised the trainees on rules and regulations of the ECI and also be familiarised them about the usage of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).


ADC & ARO 1-Nagaland P/C: ADC and ARO 1-Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, Benjamin Longkap, has convened a meeting of the general observers with all the contesting candidates and political parties on April 3, 11:30 a.m. at the office of the Commissioner and RO, 1-Nagaland P/C. All concerned have been informed to attend the meeting.


In another circular, ADC & ARO also informed all concerned that the 2nd randomisation of EVM/VVPAT would be done on April 3, 12:30 p.m. at the Office of the Commissioner & Returning Officer, 1- Nagaland P/C.


Kohima: DC and DEO Kohima office has informed that Form 12-A for issuing Election Duty Certificate (EDC) has been made available from March 27 onwards at Postal Ballot Cell/Revenue Branch, 3rd Floor DC Office Kohima, and the duly filled forms are to be submitted by April 5.


It has been notified that polling personnel such as presiding officers, polling officers, Grade IV staff, accompanying the polling team, Form 12-A would be issued in the training venue.
Meanwhile, the first-round training for the Grade-IV/MTS was held on March 28 at the DC Kohima office premises. Personnel verification of election duty personnel was also conducted on March 28 at DC Kohima office premises.


Dimapur, Niuland & Chümou training: The second phase of training for the second polling and third polling officials from Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima was held on March 28 at Dimapur Government College (DGC) Dimapur.


Peren: The Peren district medical board for exemption of polling personnel for election duty on medical ground was held on March 28 at Conference Hall of ADC Office, Peren Town.
During the medical board screening few polling personnel with genuine application seeking exemption on medical ground were discussed and granted exemption from election duty.


Mokokchung: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and ERO Mokokchung Municipal Council (MCC) Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtsoe, has appeal to any claims and objections in relation to the list of claims (Form VIII), list of objections to inclusion of names (Form IX) and list of objections to particulars in entries (Form X) to submitted to the office of the appellate authority from March 28 to April 3.


Meanwhile, training to second and third polls officer and the first phase training for grade IV staff/MTS were held on March 28 at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Mokokchung and Town Hall, Mokokchung respectively.


Longleng: In view of the total shutdown in the entire Eastern Nagaland declared by the ENPO, DC and DEO Longleng informed that the proposed first round training for the polling personnel scheduled on March 28 was cancelled and postponed to March 30, 9:30 a.m. onwards at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Bautung, Longleng.


Tseminyu: A physical verification of Grade-IV staff was conducted by SDO (C) and nodal officer EEM, Tseminyu, Kemciyile, on March 28 at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Court Tseminyu.
