Lok Sabha MP raises issue of Dimapur-Tizit rly project

DIMAPUR, AUG 5 (NPN)

Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) S. Supongmeren Jamir on Tuesday raised the issue of Dimapur-Tizit new railway in the ongoing Monsoon session of the Parliament through a written submission under Rule 377.
NPCC through its communications department informed that Jamir highlighted the long-pending Dimapur-Tizit new railway line project in Nagaland, which was taken up by the Ministry of Railways in 2013-14.
He said the project was planned to cover 257km, with an estimated cost of Rs.4274 crore.
However, Jamir expressed regret that even after more than a decade, the financial progress of the project remains at “zero.” MP urged the Minister of Railways to take immediate steps and ensure the early implementation of the project.
Meanwhile, the MP also joined the protest led by INDIA bloc leaders in Delhi against Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise being carried out by Election Commission in Bihar.

State BJP seeks early redevelopment of Dmu railway station

BJP Nagaland state president, Benjamin Yepthomi, along with former MLAs and representatives of Dimapur Railway Union, called on Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi to discuss the long-pending redevelopment of Dimapur Railway Station.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the strategic importance of Dimapur as the gateway to the North East and urged the minister for swift resumption of the stalled project to address the growing demands of passengers and improve regional connectivity.
The delegation said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the transformation of the ‘Look East Policy’ into the ‘Act East Policy’ had brought renewed focus on infrastructure and inclusive growth in the North East.
It also pointed out that Nagaland’s railway infrastructure was witnessing steady progress under the leadership of Vaishnaw, and that the redevelopment of Dimapur Railway Station would further strengthen connectivity and drive socio-economic development in the State.
