Lok Sabha polls peaceful: legislators and others cast vote

DIMAPUR: Nagaland voters Friday exercised their franchise for the lone Lok Sabha seat to decide the fate of three candidates – People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate, Dr. Chumben Murry, Congress candidate, S Supongmeren Jamir, and Independent Hayithung Tungoe Lotha.
The voters began queuing up at polling stations before 7 a.m. and the voting process continued till 4 p.m. across the state. Peaceful polling was reported from almost all the polling stations except for some stray incidents at few polling stations. Governor La. Ganesan, legislators and other political leaders also cast their vote at respective constituencies. Governor cast his vote at Model Polling Station, TT Indoor Stadium, Officers Hill, Kohima, while chief minister, Neiphiu Rio cast his vote at Tuophema, and deputy chief minister, Y Patton cast his vote at Tyui.


Wokha: After casting his vote at polling station Wokha Village 4 under 38 AC Wokha, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA, appreciated the high voter turnout. He expressed joy at the positive attitude in people’s mindset towards exercising one’s rights, considering the usual low turnout in Lok Sabha elections.
Humtsoe expressed gratitude for the peaceful atmosphere across all polling stations in Wokha, where women officers largely presided. He appreciated the community’s enthusiasm for the electoral process in the district.


Suruhuto: The 33rd Suruhuto assembly constituency reported peaceful conduct of polls. There were no reports of any untoward incident from the constituency.
Tuli: The 21 Tuli assembly constituency also reported peaceful election.
Zunheboto: The 18th Lok Sabha election 2024 under Zunheboto district went off successfully without any report of untoward incidents.
Chozuba: Electors of Chozuba sub-division under Phek district casted their votes in free of choice for the three candidates in the fray. DIPR said no official complaint was reported in the sub-division during the day.
