Public of Longchem town under Mangkolemba sub-division in Mokokchung district have expressed disappointment over non-construction of footsteps in the town despite several reminders by Longchem Adhoc Town Committee (LATC) and NGOs, and allocation of Rs 7.75 lakh in this regard under LADP.
In a press statement, LATC vice-chairman A Chuba Longkumer said that the public, during the meeting held at Longchem town on Saturday, discussed various issues pertaining to the development of the town.
It was pointed out that the final withdrawal of the allocated fund was made on April 6, 2021, but till now the construction was yet to see the light of the day.
The meeting noted that the work order of December 22, 2022 amounting to Rs 48,59,326 was issued by the directorate of Tribal Affairs to M/S Zenith Enterprise for construction of internal road, but the work had not started till now.
Requesting the contractor to start the construction work immediately, the residents gathered at the meeting warned of taking concrete measures in case of failure to comply with their request.
