The 1st foundation day of Longleng Old Age Home under the aegis of Good Samaritan Women Society (GSWS), Kohima, was observed on August 24 at Industry Colony, Hamlikong village.
The programme was led by Neithonuo Liegise, chairperson, GSWS, who also highlighted the activities of GSWS.
Good Samaritan Women Society opened the Old Age Home as extension mission to Longleng district on August 24, 2022 to take care of the destitute elderly persons.
Liegise said that the GSWS has opened the senior citizens Home to help the needy senior citizens of Longleng voluntarily without getting any grant in aid from neither state nor central governments.
She said that the Society has planned to hand over the project to a dedicated and trustworthy NGO’s from Longleng district in future after it become fully functional.
General Manager, DIC Longleng, P. Elung Phom, president, Longleng Senior Citizens Association and chairman, Hamlikong Village Council also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, N. Tialemba Phom, executive secretary, PBCA invoked God’s blessings while welcome address was delivered by Motsushumi Kikon, secretary, GSWS.
The programme witnessed honouring elderly residents by GSWS. Special number was presented by youths of LTBC. Langau Phom, co-ordinator Old Age Home, Longleng proposed vote of thanks.
