Longleng District Pensioners Association (LDPA) celebrated its Silver Jubilee on Friday at Phom People’s Council Hall Longleng under the theme “Amazed beyond Measure’’ with S. Pangnyu Phom, minister for Health and Family Welfare as the special guest.
Congratulating the association on attaining 25 years, Pangnyu said pensioners should be thankful to God for reaching their old age gracefully and for the abundant blessings upon them. He said that pensioners were those government servants who had discharged their services judiciously while serving in government establishments in various capacities. He also encouraged the pensioners saying that retirement was not the end of their lives but was the starting of a new chapter and he asked them to serve society by taking on new responsibilities.
Pangnyu also called upon the pensioners to rededicate themselves and explore their vast knowledge pool of serving people, so that they could build up the younger generation and contribute to a vibrant society.
The minister also released the Jubilee Souvenir during the celebration.
MLA, B. S. Nganlang Phom, in a short speech, congratulated the LDPA and credited the achievement to almighty God’s unceasing love. Nganlang also called upon the pensioners to take up responsibilities diligently and with honesty so that they could guide society with their elderly wisdom. He also wished the pensioners good health in their endeavors.
Others who spoke on the occasion included DC Longleng, John Tsulise Sangtam, Metpong Phom, ex-minister, and Imtichuba Phom, pioneer LDPA.
The program was chaired by B. K. Ongshong Phom, invocation prayer was offered by Rev. Beau Phom, senior pastor Longleng Town Baptist Church. A welcome address was delivered by N. Chingpong Phom, Jubilee Planning chairman, a special song was presented by the Jubilee Choir, and vote of thanks was offered by H.T. Longben Phom, president of LDPA.
