
Longsa village, Mokokchung under the aegis of Tourism Department, Nagaland celebrated the premiere Tsüngremmung festival in a splendid and well decorated manner on August 1 at Salang Lenden, Longsa.
A press release from Longsa Tourism Committee media cell, Sashimeren stated that speaking at the festival, the special guest chairman DPDB Mokokchung, Sharingain, MLA said that the festival is such a prestigious occasion for the Longsa Medemsanger Putu for its final celebration under the guidance of the Medemsanger Putu which would later be handed down to the upcoming Mejensanger Putu.
Sharingain stated that with change of times in the era of technology, people are often swayed by the modern norms and practices that are always been a negativity among the youngster.
He however said that the tradition and custom which were born and practiced by their forefather should be preserved and practiced.
Therefore the younger generation should never ignore the tradition and culture of the Aos Naga, he added. Sharingain shared that a day where a festival of Aos celebrates festival with love and unity among the neighboring village from Sangtam and Sumi is a sign of good gesture and marked a concrete bond of friendship.
CEO, IDAN, Alemtemshi Jamir in his speech on significance of Tsüngremmung said that the only festival that is dedicated to God is the festival of Tsüngremmung where people on its purest form of honesty and praise, seek the blessing from God.
He added that it is a festival, no matter poor or rich, young or old, shared the love of unity by merry making and dance to the tunes of the traditional song.
“Tsüngremmung is the reflection of God for farming, climate and the weather which are totally depend on the supreme power”, Alem added.
The numbers of cultural troupe by the host Longsa village even including Surumi village, and Pirahir village enthralled the gathering by their folk dance and song.
