DIMAPUR, JUL 8 (NPN): Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH), Longla Village Students’ Union (LVSU), and Wokha District Senior Citizens Association (WDSCA) have strongly condemned the reported robbery and assault of Ekyimo Ngullie, a 96 year old resident of Longla village, on July 7.
LEH: Lotha Eloe Hoho expressed concern over the incident, terming it an appalling and inhumane act contrary to the values of respect, care and dignity accorded to senior citizens. It said such crimes instill fear and insecurity within the community and deserve the strongest condemnation. Extending solidarity to Ngullie and his family, LEH appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and extend care to elderly persons, particularly those travelling alone. The Hoho also urged authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation and take appropriate action under the law.
LVSU: Longla Village Students’ Union described the incident as cowardly and inhumane, calling it an attack on the safety and security of the entire community. It urged law enforcement agencies to carry out swift investigation, identify the culprits and bring them to justice. The union also appealed to anyone with credible information to cooperate with investigating authorities. Stressing that crime can affect anyone at any time, LVSU urged citizens to remain vigilant, exercise caution and support one another in maintaining a safe community. It conveyed concern to Ngullie and his family and reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice and public safety.
WDSCA: Wokha District Senior Citizens Association also condemned the incident, stating that there is no place for such heartless acts in a civilized society. It appealed to right thinking citizens to denounce the crime and urged investigating agencies to nab the culprits and book them under relevant sections of the law.
