NSCN (I-M) on Tuesday said that the issue with the Lotha Hoho has been amicably resolved. The issue cropped up following the unsubstantiated media report alleging unwanted speech from one NSCN (I-M) functionary at Bhandari meeting on February 13, 2016 as reported in Imphal free press dated on February 15, MIP in a press release stated.
MIP said it came to an understanding by all that such unconfirmed report was best laid to rest since the person concern had already denied making any such undesirable statement, which was also substantiated by the Lotha Lower Range people’s organization.
MIP said a letter dated 2nd March 2016, signed by its Home secretary was sent to Lotha Hoho assuring that nothing of such threat to 25 Lotha intellectuals existed. “However, it was unfortunate that despite receiving a clear letter of assurance from our government, 15 days ultimatum was notified through the media”, MIP stated.
In order to understand each other better, another round of meeting was held with the Lotha Hoho at Dimapur on March 11. During the meeting, the ultimatum served on the NSCN was discussed in good spirit and laid bare the non-existent threat and sinister design being played by elements which was antagonist to Naga unity, MIP added.
“With utmost respect to each other and with much cordiality, various issues were also discussed along with the matter in concern. Lotha Hoho also extended fullest support to the Naga political issue”, MIP said.
On the issue of Oil and Natural gas, MIP said NSCN (I-M) was very clear that “the moratorium order of the Yaruiwo dated 10th August 2013 is still in force”.
It said that “at no point of time NSCN leaders who convened the meeting with the Lotha Hoho dated on March 11, 2016 neither commented nor spoke on the PIL filed by Lotha Hoho at the Indian court”.
With regard to the internal conflict concerning the nomenclature of Lotha apex body, MIP said “NSCN refused to interfere at this point of time and advised them to sort it out within the Lotha community”.
MIP said that after having come to a positive understanding, NSCN (I-M) in good faith believed that the matter in question was amicably resolved from that day.
It also appreciated the concern and wisdom shared by Lotha Hoho on various matter, MIP said adding, the NSCN also solicited the support and encouragement of the hoho “in our journey together in resolving the Naga political issue”.
