Various Lotha organizations have condemned the murder of Thungchibemo Humtsoe by unknown miscreant(s) on November 30 at Lerie Chazou, Kohima.
KLH: The Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH) expressed shock and pain over the gruesome murder of a Thungchibemo Humtsoe, son of late Mhonyamo Humtsoe, differently abled person, by one Seketol Kiso of Kidima Village on November 30 night at Leriechazou colony, Kohima.
KLH chairman C. Pankathung Lotha and general secretary S. Chonbemo Lotha said the culprit has not only committed grievous crime but has also brought great loss to the bereaved family. KLH conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty God to grant eternal peace to the departed soul.
KLSU: Kohima Lotha Students’ Union (KLSU) and all affiliated units under its jurisdiction condemned the heinous crime and murder of Thungchibemo Humtsoe (Person with Disability) by unknown miscreants on November 30 at Lerie Chazou, Kohima.
KLSU president Lirhonthung Kithan and general secretary Zachamo Ngullie called upon all right thinking citizens to condemn the evil and malicious crime committed by the culprits and demanded befitting and highest degree of punishment as per the law of the land.
Asserting that such an act of murder was alien to the Naga culture, the students’ union appealed to the investigating agency to leave no stone unturned and arrest all the culprits involved and also disclose to the public the motive behind the murder of an innocent youth.
Reposing faith in the criminal justice system, KLSU assured their cooperation to the investigating agency and also appealed to the law enforcing agency to deliver justice to the bereaved families at the earliest.
KLSU said that as per the statement of the victim’s family recorded by the union, “the body of Lt. Thungchibemo Humtsoe was found in a deplorable state wherein his face was completely smashed, with broken collarbone, damage to liver, heart, and broken ribs and his body was mercilessly left near a footpath like a slaughtered animal.”
Meanwhile, KLSU warned of serious action if any individual/organisation was found to be involved tin hampering/sabotaging the investigation process or attempting to secure the culprits.
The union further conveyed condolences and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and assured full support and prayers.
LHK: Lakhuti Humtsoe Khumshum (LHK) expressed pain and condemned the cold-hearted torture and murder of its member late Thungchibemo Humtsoe son of late Zapfuo Humtsoe, a resident of NST Colony, Kohima by one Seketol Kiso of Kidima village, who is also a neighbor and a resident of NST colony and his co-conspirators.
LHK said Thungchibemo was a physically handicapped person, deaf and dumb, who could not have been a threat to any individual in any circumstances. “A homicidal character like Seketol Kiso has no place in our society where by tradition Nagas value and respect human lives,” LHK chairman and general secretary stated.
While appreciating the timely arrest of the culprit, LHK appealed to the law enforcing authorities to arrest all the accomplices and also urged the court to award the severest punishment under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
While demanding that the perpetrators should not be granted bail, LHK said the community would also be monitoring the process of the trial. In the event of miscarriage of justice to the aggrieved family, LHK said it should not be held responsible for future repercussions.
KLE: Kohima Lakhuti Ekhung (KLE) said it was perturbed at the inhumane torture and murder of one of its members late Thungchibemo Humtsoe by Seketol Kiso of Kidima village and his accomplices.
KLE chairman and general secretary also said that a physically handicapped person would not be a threat to any individual in the process of any altercation. KLE said a person who has a murderous instinct like Seketol Kiso has no place in the Naga society, where a human life is respected and placed at the highest level.
KLE urged the law agency to award the severest and highest punishment under relevant sections of the IPC and cautioned not to grant bail to the perpetrators.
