In its latest crackdown on illegal immigrants in Wokha, the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) Thursday “deported” 15 ILP defaulters to the nearest border area accompanied by administration and police personnel.
According to LSU general secretary and in-charge of ILP Cell, Ashanthung Humtsoe, the drive to “flush out” illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters was conducted in cooperation with the district administration and police department. He informed that during the drive, altogether 27 persons including six minors were found without proper documentation or expired ILP.
Cautioning that it would not tolerate ILP defaulters or illegal immigrants within its jurisdiction, the union stated it would continue to conduct similar drives from time to time. LSU has expressed gratitude to the police, administration and public and sought their cooperation in the future also. LSU has also appealed to the public to remain vigilant in tackling the menace of illegal immigration plaguing not only Wokha but the entire state.
Further, LSU has urged the state government to implement the online ILP reform recommendation, which it had submitted.
