Lotha Students Union (LSU), while stating that it was devoted to maintaining a disciplined, healthy, and productive environment for students within Wokha district, has issued a series of directives for strict compliance with immediate effect.
In a press release, LSU president, Lirhonthung E Kithan, general secretary, Chanpenthung Ovung, and education and statistical secretary, Nyanthung M Khuvung, said the directives have been issued to combat the menace of tobacco and uphold the standards and values of the student community within the district.
In a “code of conduct for students in uniform”, LSU warned that any student found loitering around in unfirm during class hours or students found loitering around in uniform outside the school campus without a valid reason would face strict disciplinary action. While prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to students, LSU has issued the following directives: no shopkeeper within Wokha district shall sell tobacco products to students in uniform; no shopkeeper shall sell any tobacco products within 100 meters of any institution, school or college premises; any shopkeeper found violating these directives will face severe action from the LSU, including reporting to relevant authorities and additional measures deemed necessary to enforce compliance.
Further, LSU warned that non-compliance would result in significant consequences as the union was dedicated to ensuring a safe and favourable environment for education and student well-being.
