LSWDA condemns Oct 26 incident

Lazami Social Welfare Dimapur Area (LSWDA) has expressed shocked to learn of the tragic and untimely demise of Aboto Achumi, son of Ghokiye Achumi a resident of Nihoto village, Niuland.


In a press note, LSWDA general secretary Tovi Phucho said Aboto was hit by a speeding government registered vehicle NL-10-C-0749 and died on the spot while another passer-by was critically injured and admitted at a private hospital, at around 11:35 p.m. at 3rd Mile area Dimapur on October 26.


LSWDA alleged that the driver of the vehicle, who was not authorized person to use the government vehicle, and the occupant at the time of the incident were in inebriated condition.


The welfare said that the use of vehicle by unauthorized personnel was a serious offence and in contravention of section 180 of The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. LSWDA appealed to the law enforcing agency to book the culprits and deliver justice at the earliest.


The welfare further extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that Almighty God grant them peace and strength at this hour of grief and for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
