
Lt. Gen. Johnson P Mathew took charge as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Corps from Lt. Gen. RP Kalita on Wednesday, PRO (Def) stated in a communiqué.
Lt. Gen. Mathew, who was commissioned into the Punjab Regiment in 1985, held several prestigious command and staff assignments in conventional as well as counter-insurgency operations. He commanded an infantry battalion in the North East and had also served as GOC of Victor Force in Jammu and Kashmir.
The new Corps commander conveyed greetings to the people of the North East and wish them peace, tranquillity and prosperity in the times ahead.
