A three day leadership skill development camp was conducted in Yangli from October 22 to 24. It was organized by the Youth department of Longkhim Town Baptist Lithro (LTBL). The theme for the camp was “Training Leaders for Tomorrow” with associate youth secretary USBLA, Longri and principal, Oriental Theological College Yangli, Chumpongse, as the resource persons.
“The issue of leadership among the youth and young adults is a big problem in our community, therefore identifying young leaders and developing them is our priority,” said pastor Longkhim Town Baptist Lithro, Likhumse in his key note address.
Creative workshops, experiential games, question-answer hours and intensive teaching sessions on the subject of Leadership were part of the three day camp. In the gospel hours, Longri expounded on the lives of different biblical characters and preached on the topics “Life is a Journey- complete it,” and “Baggage.” A call to commitment and prayer of blessings were offered after each gospel hour.
Associate Youth pastor LTBL, Therise said that it was an excellent pathway program for the participants of the leadership camp, and the feedback around both skill development and camps events were outstanding. He said that the participant youth not only enjoyed themselves but brought home with them many valuable lessons and friendships that they forged during the camp. The church thanked the resource persons and the campers for making the program a successful one.
The objective of the camp was to allow youth to receive multi-faceted training and experience back-to-basics living so that they could appreciate what they have.
The camp was also organized under the belief that building up leadership skills in the younger generation as part of a youth development program was very important.
