Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang (LTM) said it has taken serious note of harassment meted out by “unwanted social elements” to the workers carrying out construction of National Highway in its jurisdiction.
In a press release, LTM president M Zulu Ozukum, general secretary Lanu Pongen and LTM-CCR convener Marsanen Imsong said as resolved at a meeting they have been monitoring the construction of NH especially the two-lane construction from Yisemyong to Unger and Merangkong to Tamlu. The release stated that LTM officials and LTM coordination committee for Roads (LTM-CCR) visited construction site from Yisemyong to Unger on December 3, 2019. LTM said it observed that the construction of retaining wall and culverts in some locations were not satisfactory.
The team, therefore, instructed the contractor to re-mend it at the earliest.
However, it expressed dismay that the workers were being harassed by the public and others.
LTM has warned all the responsible to adhere to the law of the land and not to disturb or harass the ongoing road construction, but cooperate with the officials.
Meanwhile, LTM has banned collection of tax in any form and cautioned that doing so would be considered as “anti people” and would not be tolerated.
