LUMT celebrates plantinum jubilee in Mkg

The Longkhum Union Mokokchung Town (LUMT), celebrated its platinum jubilee under the theme, “Jungmarak”, at the town hall with O Meren Longkumer as the key speaker on December 23.
The speaker, O Meren Longkumer stated that the villagers of Longkhum had played a major in the development of Mokokchung, since its inception as a sub-division of British-India Assam in 1890. Citing Temshimayang as the first head dobashi of Mokokchung in 1890, Senlikaba as the first government employed teacher around the formation of the town, Noktsura as the first shopkeeper who also owned the first jeep. O Meren said that Longkhum has offered many other personalities as pioneers in the fields of religion, social, political, etc. Meren stressed that all these were possible because God chose and offered them the opportunity. O Meren said that the present generation of the town were the offsprings and inheritors of those legacies and achievements for Mokokchung town. He, therefore called upon the LUMT to be role model and responsible in the further development of the town with renewed faith in God.
Earlier, short speeches were delivered by Longkhum village council chairman I Sendong Jamir, Dimapur Government College principal Akok Walling and MTBA associate pastor Sentimeren. 
The blessings of platinium jubilee prayer was said by MTBA pastor Rev. Ponen Longchar and the souvenir was released by I Matong Longkumer. Special songs were presented Longkhum women of Mokokchung and male voice by Yutsung & friends.
Welcome address was said by LUMT president I Lanu Soyah and the vote of thanks was proposed by jubilee planning committee convenor P Lipok Jamir while the benediction was said by home evangelist Jongpong.
