The Longtsunger Village Citizens (LVC) has vehemently condemned the assaults meted to T Kiuto, 2nd Head GB of Longtsunger village, allegedly by one Mark Murekiu, assistant teacher of GPS Chikiuponger village and president of GBs union Kiusam cum PS to Parliamentary secretary Khumo on January 9 at Longtsunger village.
A press release issued by S Shojiba, chairman LVC, alleged that Mark Murekiu came to the village with armed personnel in a Bolero bearing Registration No. NL 10-8644 and beaten up T Kiuto, 2nd head GB Longtsunger village, very seriously around 10:30 PM without any rhyms and reason.
While condemning the ‘cowardly act,’ Citizens Union said it was unbecoming of a public leader and government servant, who instead of doing public welfare activities, was resorting to create fear psychosis in the minds of the people, taking advantage of his position. It said such a person needs to be condemned by every right thinking citizen.
The citizen further urged upon the law enforcing agency to book the culprit immediately and bring justice to the victim.
In a separate statement, Pungro Area College Students’ Union (PACSU) has strongly condemned the inhuman act meted out to Kiuto, 2nd Head GB of Longtsong village, by some individuals led by Mark Murekiu, P/S to Parliamentary Secretary, Khumo, and also the Head GB of Kiusam village and the teacher in-charge of GPS Chikiupong village.
The Union general secretary, Rasuka Jacob S, stated the incident happened on January 9 when Mark Murekiu, with his armed personnel intruded Longtsong village on that fateful night on the pretext of holding a meeting with the concerned village council. It said the victim was verbally abused using derogatory words and physically assaulted causing major injury on head and fractured his arm.
