LYH organises cleanliness drive at Wokha Public Ground

WOKHA, SEP 18 (NPN): To promote a cleaner environment and encourage responsible waste disposal in public spaces, the Lotha Youth Hoho (LYH) organised a cleanliness drive at the Public Ground, Wokha, on Friday.
The drive brought together members of various organisations and community groups, including the NPF Youth Wing Wokha Division; Team MLA 38 A/C Y.M. Humtsoe; BJP Wokha unit; Lotha Students’ Union (LSU); youths from Niropen Colony and Wokha Village; Natural Nagas; Tiyi Riders Wokha; Nepali Baptist Church Wokha; Wokha Town Council (WTC); police personnel and other well wishers.
Speaking to media persons, LYH president Mharomo V. Murry said the initiative was aimed at encouraging collective responsibility in maintaining clean and healthy public spaces. Expressing concern over the practice of dumping waste in public areas, he appealed to citizens to properly dispose of waste and maintain cleanliness around public places, government buildings and offices.
Murry informed that the cleanliness drive was also part of activities leading up to the LYH Penalty Shootout Tournament scheduled to be held at the Public Ground on September 19. The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. under the theme “Shoot Goals, Not Drugs,” highlighting the need to raise awareness against drug abuse among youths.
A member participating in the drive remarked, “We need to stop blaming the government alone. Our dirt is our responsibility too.” The member stressed that maintaining a clean environment should not be viewed solely as the government’s duty, but as a shared responsibility requiring proper waste disposal and avoidance of littering. He added that cleanliness drives should encourage citizens to develop lasting habits of responsibility towards their surroundings.
