Mahatma Gandhi University M’laya convocation ceremony

The convocation ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Meghalaya was held on February 16 at the University Seminar Hall at 13th Mile, Byrnihat, Meghalaya amidst a huge gathering of scholars, academicians, government officials, students and guests.
Governor of West Bengal Keshari Nath Tripathi graced the occasion as the chief guest. Petko Doykov, Ambassador of Bulgaria, Prof. Wolfgang C. Amann, academic programme director, HEC, Paris at Doha (Qatar) and K. Janardhanan, a distinguished management scholar from Bengaluru graced the occasion as the guests of honour.
Graduation, post graduation degrees were ceremoniously conferred upon the students and scholars by governor of West Bengal in the presence the members of the governing body, academic council members, chancellor, Dr.Rajan Chopra, vice chancellor, Prof. Shiv K. Tripathi, Phd, registrar Kumar Abhishek, dean (Academics), Dr. Mohan Bhattacharya. 
In his convocation address, the chief guest lauded the performance of the emerging institution of excellence and blessed the student and scholars. He mentioned that the very name Mahatma Gandhi University suggests the ideology that the institution of excellence follows, he said. The Ambassador of Bulgaria, Petko Doykov also greeted the students and scholar and mentioned about the long standing relationship of India and Bulgaria.
Prof. Wolfgang C. Amann in his brief address had important messages for the scholars and students. He mentioned that “we should seek happiness in utilizing the knowledge acquired in the university for peaceful pursuits.”
In the last six years of its existence, Mahatma Gandhi University has achieved resounding success in all its ventures including professional education and is emerging as a global university with boasting distinctive strengths in education and entrepreneurship, stated Kr.Abhishek, registrar in a press release. The university is a platform for excellence in teaching, learning and administration with the use of state-of-the-art information technology contributing to the development of well-trained graduates, post graduates and doctorates to meet the professional manpower needs of not just India but the world. As a living, evolving institution, Mahatma Gandhi University has built diversity in its academic and disciplinary infrastructure, expanded its students’ facilities and thereby built its profile in the public sphere of north east India, he added.
