Lauding the initiative of district Administration headed by the DC, Sushil Kumar Patel, Khensa villagers and the concerned citizens of Mokokchung, in their endeavour to make the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Mokokchung town operational, the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) has appealed to the district administration to carry out its dedicated objective to make the ISBT functional at the earliest possible time.
In a press release, MTLT president, Imkummeren Jamir and general secretary, Taliakum Pongen appealed to the general public, especially the travel agents, taxi drivers and different unions to cooperate with the district administration with regard to the full-fledged functioning of the ISBT. The release said that the multi-crore ISBT, constructed with the funding from North East Council was inaugurated by the then chief minister Neiphiu Rio on August 1, 2011 but has not been serving its purpose for the past four years.
MTLT said that it appreciated that Mokokchung DC for taking up the ISBT issue at the monthly DPDB meeting in June.
At the meeting, it was brought to the house that the functioning of ISBT was being hindered due to lack of electricity and water supply. To this, DC had assured that the administration would look into the matter and would ensure that the ISBT becomes functional.
In this connection, the MTLT said it had met the DC on June 30 at his official chamber. In their meeting, DC had informed them that he would bring about the latest status of the terminus at the monthly DPDB meeting in July, MTLT release added. Understanding the importance of the terminus, MTLT led by its president and other officials also made a spot inspection on Wednesday.
