A person, arrested in connection with motorcycle theft, was found dead inside the toilet of a lockup under West Police Station, Dimapur Friday. ADCP crime and PRO Dimapur police, Relo T Aye, informed Nagaland Post that the deceased was found hanging in the cell at around 3.30 p.m.
He said as per the National Human Right Commission guidelines, magisterial inquest has been initiated and the dead body taken to district hospital for post-mortem. Aye said that the report would be known only after the post-mortem was completed. The deceased was one among the three persons arrested in connection with the lifting of two Royal Enfield motorcycles from Duncan Basti area. The three were arrested by Dimapur police with the assistance of Jalukie police on June 3, 2021 and a case was registered with West PS.
