Special Judge POCSO, Phek has convicted a 25-year-old man identified as one Kukuto Shijoh to undergo 20 years of imprisonment for committing penetrative sexual assault on a 11-year-old minor girl on December 13, 2022.
In a press release, public prosecutor Phek, Samuel Ritse, informed that the incident happened when the victim along with her friends had gone to the jungle for collecting fire wood. Later, the accused surrendered himself at Chozuba Women PS Phek.
According to the judgment order dated October 11, 2023, the accused was charged U/S 4(2) of POCSO Act 2012 amended in 2019.
The special court also recommended Rs.1 lakh as victim compensation for the crime perpetuated against the minor victim. The case was investigated by UBI Lucy Doungel.
