Court of Special Judge, POCSO Act, Phek on Thursday sentenced one Kunungoi Medeo to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for commission of rape and aggravated sexual assault upon victim girl child under Chozuba PS, Phek district on September 21, 2021.
Pronouncing the judgment, Special Judge, POCSO Act, Phek Mezivolu T Therieh also sentenced the accused to a period of simple imprisonment of one year for commission of sexual assault on the 8-year-old victim by outraging her modesty. Also, for commission of sexual harassment upon the girl child victim, the court sentenced the accused with simple imprisonment for a term of six months. The judge ordered that the jail sentences would run concurrently and out of the total fine amount of Rs. 5600 deposited by the accused, Rs. 5000 would be paid to the victim.
The special judge held that all the evidences lead to only one conclusion that the accused did commit rape and aggravated penetrative sexual assault on the 8-year-old victim who was known to him.
