DIMAPUR, JUN 29 (NPN): Dimapur Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly murdering and sexually assaulting his cousin sister at Master Colony, Naharbari here on Sunday.
According DCP (Crime) and PRO, police received information at around 10.30 a.m. from East Police Station that a woman had been found dead at Master Colony, Naharbari. A team from Women PS rushed to the spot and conducted an inquest. The deceased was identified as Roshni (28), daughter of Fazar Ali of Kandhulimari Nagaon district, Assam, presently residing at Master Colony, Naharbari, Ward-10, Lane-1, Dimapur. After completion of legal formalities, the body was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur morgue for post-mortem examination.
During preliminary investigation, police found that the deceased’s two minor daughters and her minor brother were missing from the house. Acting on credible information, the investigating team traced the three children at Diphupar B Village, 5th Mile, Chümoukedima. They were rescued, medically examined and handed over to Childline, while the Child Welfare Committee was informed as per protocol. Police also brought Salim Ali (27), son of late Intaz Ali of Kandhulimari, Assam’s Nagaon district, presently residing at Master Colony, Naharbari, Ward-10, for questioning.
Based on evidence collected during the probe, police arrested Salim in connection with the alleged murder and subsequent sexual assault of the deceased, who was his cousin sister. A case has been registered at Women PS, Dimapur, and investigation underway.
