Man held for sexually assaulting minor boy

DIMAPUR, JUL 1 (NPN): Phek Police have arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor boy following the registration of a case under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act.
According to a press release by Phek Police, an FIR was received on July 1 alleging that a minor boy had been sexually assaulted by the accused. Subsequently, Phek Women PS registered a case under various sections of the POCSO Act. Police said a special team was constituted, which apprehended the accused on the same day.
After completion of legal formalities, the accused was remanded to judicial custody. The victim is stated to be stable and is receiving due care and protection.
Police appealed to the public to respect the victim’s privacy and refrain from circulating any information that could lead to the child’s identification, stating that doing so is punishable under Sec 72 of BNS, Sec 23 of POCSO Act and Sec 74 of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
Police assured that all efforts were being made to complete the probe and reiterated its appeal to all to help create a safe and protective environment for children.
