IMPHAL, JUL 24 (NPN): Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh, accompanied by ADGP (L&O), visited Tengnoupal district on Friday to review security preparedness, policing and inter‑agency coordination in the border district.
At the district police headquarters, the DGP assessed the overall security situation and stressed sustained operations against anti‑national elements, effective investigation of cases, intensified anti‑drug measures and recovery of illegal arms. He emphasised close coordination among security agencies to ensure peace and security in the border areas. During his visit to Moreh, the border town at the Indo‑Myanmar frontier, Singh interacted with representatives of various communities including Tamil, Kuki, Nepali, Meitei Pangal and CSOs. He also held meetings with the Commandants of 36 Assam Rifles and 3 Assam Rifles, along with officers of the Assam Rifles and Manipur police commandos, reviewing operational preparedness, border management and inter‑agency synergy.
The DGP inspected Indo‑Myanmar Border Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 2 to review deployment and security arrangements at the international crossing. On his return, he visited Kwatha, a Meitei‑inhabited village, where he interacted with villagers and personnel of the district police, CAPFs and Assam Rifles. The visit reaffirmed the commitment of Manipur police and allied agencies to strengthen border security and ensure lasting peace.
Meanwhile, in an ongoing operation to recover illegal arms, security forces seized a cache from the forest area near Sangaithel Park in Imphal West adjoining Kangpokpi district. The recovery included eight pistols with magazines, four rifles, three hand grenades, three detonators, assorted live rounds, empty cases, magazines, military fatigues, BP jackets, magazine pouches, wireless sets and other items.
Police said the operation reflects continued efforts to curb illegal arms and enhance public safety across the state.
