Manipur’s Covid-19 cases surge to 53

Resurgent Covid-19 positive cases in Manipur jumped to 53 with 16 fresh cases confirmed on Thursday.
The 16 fresh positive cases were detected upon testing of 38 samples in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate was 42.1%, Covid-19 status update of the state health authority said.
The fresh cases were confirmed in Imphal East (eight), Imphal West (seven) and Tengnoupal (one).
The seven fresh cases in Imphal West district were confirmed upon testing of 15 samples in the last 24 hours (2pm of June 18 to 2 pm of June 19). With 30 infections so far, Imphal West district is the most affected district.
With the eight new cases confirmed during the last 24 hours, the infection tally in Imphal East, the second most affected district, rose to 15.
The detection of one new case took the total infection in Tengnoupal district to two. The first confirmed case in the district was reported on June 18.
