DIMAPUR: Advisor of Law & Justice and Land Revenue, T.N. Mannen, called upon the people of Khanimu village to build a prosperous future through unity and collective responsibility. He was speaking at the inauguration of the new Panchayat Hall of Khanimu village on August 8, 2026.
Addressing the gathering, Mannen stressed that development does not happen by chance but through unity practised via open discussion, democratic decision making and respect for both majority will and individual voices. “When we decide together, we move forward together,” he stated.
Mannen underlined the shared duty to protect government assisted public property such as roads, community halls, water sources, schools and health centres. He urged citizens to act as guardians of common resources through cleanliness, timely repairs and respectful use, noting that neglect harms every family in the village.
Encouraging youth to focus on self employment rather than waiting for saturated government jobs, he highlighted opportunities in skill development, small enterprises, modern agriculture, animal husbandry, local crafts, tourism and services that can benefit from improved connectivity. “Become positive contributors to society rather than passive seekers of limited and uncertain government jobs,” he advised.
Highlighting Khanimu’s advantages under Asetkong range, Mannen noted that the village’s favourable location and road links to Mokokchung town, the district headquarters and neighbouring Assam provide clear prospects for development and expansion. He urged residents to welcome progressive minds and support flexible land laws to attract investment, stating that “an environment of trust, clarity and fairness would encourage entrepreneurs and external investors to see Khanimu as a place worth investing in.”
Concluding his speech, the advisor said transparent processes and community support were essential to convert natural advantages into lasting progress, noting that with unity, responsibility and foresight, Khanimu could set an example for the entire region.
The programme also featured a welcome address by Tongpang Aier, chairman of Khanimu Village Council, short speeches by N. Temjen Aier, chairman of Longjang Medemsanger Putu Menden, and Yapangla, Project Director, DRDA Mokokchung. A song was presented by Lima Imchen, Choir Master of LBA. Closing remarks were delivered by Tsüpong Aier, council member of Khanimu, followed by the vote of thanks by S. Imli Aier, deacon of KBA.
