The Mao Union Kohima (MUK) celebrated Chithuni festival on January 7 at the Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima attended by over a thousand people.
Advisor MUK H. Lokho in his address shared the importance of Chithuni festival stating that “Chithuni is the celebration of the achievements of the past year”. Dr. Loso in his exhortation to the gathering said celebrating Chithuni had significance as it was an opportunity to preserve our culture.
The programme started with a Chithuni blessing, invoked by former president MUK M. Kaikho. President MUK L. Athikho delivered welcome address and extended Chithuni greetings to gathering. Cultural items were presented by Mao Students’ Union Kohima and other cultural troupes.
Vote of thanks was proposed by E. Krelo, the convenor of the celebration committee. The programme concluded with closing prayer pronounced by pastor MBCK Rev. Losii Mao.
